UK Passes Generational Smoking Ban
The Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which now awaits formal approval by King Charles III, represents one of the world's most aggressive anti-smoking measures.
Under the new law, the legal age to buy tobacco will rise by one year every year, effectively making it impossible for today's children to ever reach the legal threshold.
The legislation also tightens controls on vaping, including a ban on sales to under-18s and new restrictions on advertising.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting hailed the vote as a historic moment for the nation's public health.
