Hungary’s President Ends Term After Law Change

Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok signed a constitutional amendment that immediately ends his term in office, clearing the way for Prime Minister Peter Magyar to dismantle a key pillar of Viktor Orban's former power structure.

The speaker of Parliament will serve as acting president until lawmakers elect a successor within 30 days.
