US-Iran Peace Talks Collapse

The most significant face-to-face diplomatic encounter between the United States and Iran since 1979 has concluded in Islamabad without reaching a peace agreement.

Led by Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the 21-hour marathon session foundered on irreconcilable differences over nuclear ambitions and maritime control.

While the U.S. presented what it termed its 'final and best offer,' Iranian officials accused Washington of making excessive demands and failing to honor previous promises.

The deadlock leaves a fragile two-week ceasefire in jeopardy as both delegations depart Pakistan with no immediate plans for further discussions.
