The singer, whose real name is David Burke, is accused of killing and dismembering the missing teenager last year.

Defense attorneys have maintained Burke's innocence and are pushing for a public presentation of the evidence.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 1 to address the murder and sexual abuse charges.
