EU unblocks €90B Ukraine loan

In a major victory for Kyiv, the European Union has finalized a €106 billion assistance package heavily weighted toward military spending.

The deal was secured in Cyprus after Hungary’s Viktor Orban dropped his opposition, coinciding with the restoration of crude deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline.

President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to join EU leaders to celebrate the release of the funds, which provide a critical lifeline as the war with Russia enters its fifth year.

The package also includes a new round of sanctions against Moscow, reflecting the bloc's determination to maintain pressure on the Kremlin.
