Lidl and Iceland Ads Banned
The new regulations, which came into effect at the beginning of the year, cover 13 categories of sugary and fatty foods including pizza, sweets, and chocolate.
Regulators targeted social media posts by influencers that failed to clearly identify the products as less healthy.
The Irish Heart Foundation has praised the move, noting that children's health is being compromised by the prevalence of such advertisements.
Both retailers have expressed disappointment, though they have complied with the order to remove the offending content.
