Apple CEO Tim Cook steps down

Apple has announced a major leadership transition as Tim Cook prepares to step down from the CEO position on September 1, 2026.

Cook, who oversaw a $3.6 trillion increase in market value during his tenure, will remain involved as executive chairman of the board.

John Ternus, a 25-year veteran of the company and current senior vice president of hardware engineering, will take the helm.

The move comes as the tech giant faces mounting pressure to accelerate its artificial intelligence strategy and maintain its dominance in the consumer hardware market.
