Staten Island shipyard explosion

Investigators are probing the cause of a series of explosions at a Staten Island shipyard that left one worker dead and dozens injured.

The blasts occurred at the May Ship Repair Contracting Corporation after a fire broke out on a dock, trapping several subcontractors.

At least 36 people, including first responders, were treated for injuries ranging from smoke inhalation to severe burns.

The incident has raised concerns about industrial safety protocols at the facility as local authorities work to stabilize the site and prevent further environmental damage.
