EU Unblocks €90B Ukraine Loan

EU Unblocks €90B Ukraine Loan

The urgently needed financial support for Kyiv was finally unlocked after a shift in Hungarian policy following the recent election defeat of Viktor Orbán.

Ukraine has resumed pumping Russian crude into Hungary and Slovakia, resolving a bitter dispute that had stalled the loan since last December.

The package also includes a fresh round of sanctions against Moscow as the EU seeks to bolster Ukraine’s strained finances.

This development is seen as a critical victory for European unity at a time when American aid has become increasingly uncertain.
