UNESCO Adds D-Day Beaches and Mount Olympus

UNESCO added the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy and Greece's Mount Olympus to its World Heritage List during a committee meeting in South Korea.

The listings recognise the historical significance of the 1944 Allied invasion and the cultural value of the mythical mountain.

The decision was made during the World Heritage Committee session.

The additions highlight UNESCO's ongoing efforts to preserve sites of outstanding universal value.
