Rival protests shut London

Tens of thousands of people have gathered in central London for major demonstrations marking the 78th anniversary of the Nakba.

The protests, which called for a ceasefire in Gaza, took place alongside a rival far-right rally, prompting an unprecedented £4.5 million police operation.

At least 43 arrests were made, including 11 for hate crime-related offenses, as 4,000 officers worked to keep the groups separate.

The rival march, organized by activist Tommy Robinson, focused on high levels of immigration and perceived threats to British identity.
