OPEC+ agrees symbolic output hike

Seven OPEC+ nations, including Saudi Arabia and Russia, have agreed to a modest oil production increase of 188,000 barrels per day starting in June.

This decision is widely interpreted as a symbolic effort to maintain group cohesion following the United Arab Emirates' recent departure from the organization.

Despite the planned hike, global energy markets remain strained as the Strait of Hormuz continues to be obstructed by the ongoing conflict in Iran.

Analysts suggest the small increase will have a negligible impact on global supply while the primary transit route for Middle Eastern crude remains effectively closed.
