SK Group Chairman Must Pay $644M in Divorce

The Seoul High Court ordered SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won to pay his ex-wife Roh Soh-yeong 944 billion won, or about $644 million, in one of the largest divorce settlements in South Korean history.

The amount was reduced from a previous ruling of 1.38 trillion won, but still represents a record for the country.

The case, which has captivated the nation, involved a lengthy legal battle over the division of assets and a long-running extramarital affair.

The ruling is seen as a landmark in South Korea's evolving family law and corporate governance landscape.
