United jet strikes Newark light pole

A United Airlines flight from Venice, Italy, clipped a street light and struck a bakery delivery truck on the New Jersey Turnpike during its final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport.

Dashcam footage captured the terrifying moment the underside of the Boeing 767 made contact with the vehicle just before touchdown.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries, but all 231 passengers and crew members on board the aircraft landed safely without harm.

Federal aviation authorities have launched a full investigation to determine why the plane was flying unusually low during its descent.
