Lebanese journalist killed by Israel
Amal Khalil, a 42-year-old reporter for the Al-Akhbar newspaper, was taking cover in a house when it was targeted by Israeli forces.
Rescue workers reported that they were initially prevented from reaching the site by active gunfire, leaving Khalil trapped beneath rubble for hours.
The Israeli military has stated it is reviewing the incident, which also left a freelance photographer, Zeinab Faraj, seriously injured.
This tragedy comes as Lebanese and Israeli envoys prepare to meet in Washington to discuss a potential extension of the ceasefire, which is set to expire this Sunday.
