Trump Orders Strait of Hormuz Blockade

After 21 hours of failed negotiations in Islamabad, President Trump ordered the U.S. Navy to begin blockading the strategic Strait of Hormuz effective immediately.

The President warned that any Iranian forces firing on U.S. or peaceful vessels would be 'blown to hell' as tensions reach a new peak.

The blockade is intended to halt approximately 2 million barrels of oil a day, further squeezing the Iranian economy and global energy markets.

U.S. officials cited Iran's refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions as the primary reason for the diplomatic impasse.
