Trump Envoy Suggests Italy Swap

Special envoy Paolo Zampolli has confirmed he reached out to FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding the potential removal of the Iranian national team due to the ongoing war.

While Iran has stated its intention to participate, the U.S. administration is reportedly exploring ways to increase pressure on Tehran through international sports.

Italy, which failed to qualify for the tournament for a third consecutive time, would be the primary beneficiary of such a move.

FIFA has so far maintained that the Iranian team's spot is secure, despite the growing political pressure from the White House.
