Democrat Graham Platner formally ended his Senate bid after sexual assault allegations, scrambling the party's plan to unseat Susan Collins.

The 41-year-old oyster farmer and veteran had been seen as a rising left-populist candidate.

Maine Democrats are now seeking a replacement candidate before the looming November election.

Patrick Dempsey was rumored as a potential candidate but will not be running.
