US tariffs on Canada spark retaliation

President Trump announced Monday a new 50% tariff on all Canadian automotive and steel imports, beginning Jan. 1, 2027.

The move came as the administration tries to turn up economic pressure on Iran.

Canada's government will announce a range of measures on Tuesday to "protect and support" its workers and businesses in response.

Relations deteriorated sharply Monday, with Trump telling Canadian leaders to "fall in line."
