OPEC+ agrees symbolic output hike

OPEC+ member nations have provisionally agreed to a third consecutive oil production quota hike, targeting an increase of 188,000 barrels per day for June.

The move is widely interpreted as an attempt to project organizational unity following the shock departure of the United Arab Emirates from the group.

Despite the planned increase, global oil markets remain largely unmoved, as the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz continues to severely constrain actual supply movement.

Analysts suggest the hike is primarily symbolic, as the ongoing conflict in Iran remains the dominant factor driving global energy prices and volatility.
