Falta election scrapped over tampering

The Election Commission of India has taken the unprecedented step of voiding the entire poll in West Bengal's Falta constituency due to 'severe electoral offenses.' Investigators found evidence of widespread EVM tampering and the unauthorized presence of political workers inside multiple polling booths.

The decision follows a formal complaint by the BJP, which alleged that Trinamool Congress supporters had compromised the integrity of the vote.

A fresh repoll has been scheduled for May 21, with the Commission promising enhanced security and the deployment of central forces to ensure a fair process.
