Montreal Shooting Kills Police Officer, Two Others

A gunman armed with a long gun killed a police officer and a civilian in Montreal on Monday before being shot dead by police.

The officer, Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, was responding to a call near a hotel when the suspect opened fire.

A second officer was injured, and authorities confirmed the shooting was not linked to terrorism.

The city's mayor and Quebec premier expressed solidarity and denouncement of the violence.
