Montreal Shooting Kills Police Officer, Two Others

A shooting in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood on Monday left a police officer, a civilian and the gunman dead.

The officer, 34-year-old Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, was responding to a call when the suspect opened fire with a long gun.

The gunman left behind a manifesto inspired by the 'incel' movement, expressing hatred of women.

It was the first time in 24 years that a Montreal police officer was killed in the line of duty.
