Pope Leo Denounces Prison Conditions

Pope Leo XIV concluded his ten-day tour of Africa with a series of powerful messages in Equatorial Guinea.

The 70-year-old pontiff visited a notorious prison in Bata, telling inmates 'you are not alone' while calling for urgent justice reform.

During a massive open-air mass, he criticized the widening gap between the privileged and the disadvantaged, urging the government to serve the common good.

While some diaspora members feared the visit might legitimize the country's longtime ruler, the Pope's frank remarks on human rights abuses were seen by many as a significant challenge to the status quo.
