U.S. Tariff Refund Portal Launches

Following a landmark Supreme Court ruling that the administration overstepped its authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, the government is now mandated to return billions in collected duties.

The new CAPE system allows corporations to submit electronic claims for shipments dating back to the start of the trade policy.

While the administration has moved to comply, officials estimate that the full reimbursement process could take between 60 and 90 days for most applicants.

Importers have expressed concerns that high initial traffic may cause technical delays in the filing process.
