Lebanon-Israel Truce Extension Talks

Lebanon-Israel Truce Extension Talks

The U.S. State Department is hosting historic direct negotiations between Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad and Israeli counterpart Yechiel Leiter.

Lebanon is seeking a one-month extension of the truce, which is currently set to expire on Sunday, to prevent a return to full-scale hostilities.

Israel has signaled that Hezbollah remains the primary obstacle to a lasting peace, while Lebanon has accused the IDF of war crimes following the death of reporter Amal Khalil.

The talks are viewed as a critical test of regional stability as the Trump administration maintains its naval blockade of nearby Iranian ports.
