Spirit Airlines seeks federal bailout

The struggling carrier has warned that its cash reserves will not last much longer as rising jet fuel costs from the Iran war exacerbate its financial woes.

Trump suggested the government could buy the airline and resell it once oil prices stabilize, an idea that has drawn sharp criticism from some conservatives.

Former Vice President Mike Pence's advocacy group blasted the proposal as 'corporate welfare.' Spirit has not turned a profit since 2019 and has filed for bankruptcy twice in the last two years.
