Sri Lanka Prison Riot Leaves 25 Dead, Over 100 Hurt

At least 25 people were killed and more than 100 injured in what is being described as Sri Lanka's deadliest prison riot in years.

The violence at Negombo Prison erupted overnight and involved clashes between rival groups of inmates.

Officials said the fighting was connected to drug trafficking inside the facility, with reports that prisoners had seized weapons from guards.

Body bags were seen being removed from the prison, and victims with gunshot and stab wounds were rushed to a nearby hospital.
