Car Rams Berlin Pride Parade

Car Rams Berlin Pride Parade

A van drove into a crowd at Berlin’s Christopher Street Day Pride parade on Saturday evening, killing one person and injuring at least 16 others before crashing into a tree.

Police identified the suspect as an Islamist and launched an intensive manhunt, while the event was immediately called off and emergency services swarmed the Tiergarten park near the Brandenburg Gate.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz vowed to punish those responsible, and Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner described the incident as an attack on the city’s free and open-minded society.

The attack is the latest in a series of vehicle-ramming incidents in Germany since 2016, reigniting security concerns around public gatherings.
