Gardaí Foil New IRA Bomb Plot Near Border

Irish police stopped a vehicle carrying a highly sophisticated bomb near the Northern Ireland border, targeting dissident republicans.

Two suspects were arrested, including a law student who was granted bail, and the device was described as ‘military grade’.

The 25-year-old woman was charged with possession of explosives after the car was intercepted on the N2 south of Carrickmacross.

Security sources expressed serious concern over the New IRA’s access to high explosives.
