Artemis II shatters distance record

The Artemis II spacecraft reached a historic milestone on Monday, eclipsing the 248,655-mile distance record established during the 1970 Apollo 13 mission.

Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen provided unprecedented visual accounts of the lunar surface, reporting distinct color variations and 'earth-shattering' views.

During the flyby, the crew shared an emotional moment by naming a lunar crater 'Carroll' in honor of Commander Wiseman's late wife.

After successfully emerging from the lunar shadow, the crew regained contact with Mission Control, marking a critical step in the journey to return humans to the lunar surface.
