White House Seeks $87.6B for Iran War
The White House formally requested $87.6 billion from Congress to cover the costs of the war with Iran, aid U.S. farmers, and fund the response to the Ebola outbreak.
The supplemental funding request, submitted at a politically difficult moment, faces skepticism as a majority of lawmakers have already objected to further military action.
Most of the money would replenish Pentagon weapons stockpiles depleted by the conflict.
The request underscores the financial toll of the four-month war and the administration's effort to link domestic spending to the military package to attract broader support.
