Peter Magyar defeats Viktor Orbán

Peter Magyar defeats Viktor Orbán

In what is being described as a political earthquake for Europe, Peter Magyar has successfully unseated Viktor Orbán, one of the continent's most entrenched populist leaders.

The election saw record-breaking voter turnout as Hungarians chose a new direction after nearly two decades of authoritarian-leaning governance.

Orbán conceded defeat on Sunday evening, marking a major shift for a leader who was a key ally to both Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

The victory for the Tisza party is expected to reset Hungary's relationship with the European Union and alter the geopolitical landscape of Central Europe.
