Artemis II breaks space records

NASA’s Artemis II crew has begun its four-day return journey to Earth after reaching a record distance of 252,756 miles from home.

During the mission, the four astronauts became the first humans to witness the lunar far side with the naked eye, capturing unprecedented imagery.

The flight was highlighted by a total solar eclipse viewed from behind the moon, which the crew described as a transformative human experience.

Communication was temporarily lost for 40 minutes during the lunar loop, a planned blackout that ended with a historic radio check-in.
