Penn Station Train Fire

A fire on an Amtrak maintenance train near Penn Station has injured five people and paralyzed rail service across the New York region.

Two individuals were hospitalized with serious injuries as emergency crews worked to extinguish the blaze in the Hudson River tunnels.

The early morning fire caused extensive damage to overhead wires, resulting in the suspension of NJ Transit and LIRR services into midtown Manhattan.

Thousands of commuters faced major delays and cancellations during the morning rush hour.

Officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which originated on a work train in the rail yard.
