SPLC indicted on fraud charges

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) faces serious federal charges following an investigation into its use of paid confidential informants to infiltrate white supremacist and far-right organizations.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the indictment, which includes six counts of wire fraud and four counts of bank fraud related to millions of dollars in undisclosed payments.

The DOJ alleges the SPLC 'manufactured' racism to stoke hatred and defraud donors who believed their money was dismantling extremist networks.

The SPLC has long been a target of conservative critics, and this legal action represents a significant escalation in the Trump administration's scrutiny of the organization.
