Trump Backs Off Hormuz Toll, Strikes Iran

The US and Iran exchanged strikes for a third consecutive day, with American forces targeting sites across Iran and Iran firing ballistic missiles at US bases in Jordan and Bahrain.

Trump’s abrupt withdrawal of the proposed shipping toll came after industry warnings that it would cripple trade and lacked legal basis.

The blockade of Iranian ports remains in effect, and traffic through the strategic waterway has collapsed.

Iran also signaled it could use its Houthi allies to shut the Bab el-Mandeb strait, opening a new front.
