Péter Magyar Ends Orbán Era

Péter Magyar Ends Orbán Era

Magyar's victory marks the end of Orbán's 16-year rule and signals a major shift in Hungary's relationship with the European Union.

The new leader has vowed to restore democratic values and has stated that he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he entered the country, following ICC warrants.

The EU's top court recently ruled that Orbán's anti-LGBTQ laws were in breach of fundamental values, an issue Magyar's government is expected to address immediately.

The transition has sent Hungarian bonds into a steep rally as investors anticipate closer integration with the euro region.
