Ryanair Scraps Family Seating Fee After Probe
Ryanair announced an immediate change to its family seating policy on Thursday, offering free seat allocation for parents travelling with children aged 2-11 who do not wish to pay for reserved seats.
The policy change came after the Competition and Markets Authority launched an investigation into whether the previous charges breached consumer law.
Under the new rules, adults travelling with children will be advised of their free seat allocation after check-in, though families may be seated towards the rear of the plane.
The budget airline had faced significant public outrage and scrutiny over the practice of charging parents to sit with their children.
