Russia Sanctions Bill Unveiled After Graham Death

Bipartisan senators introduced updated Russia sanctions legislation that had been championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, imposing tariffs of up to 100% on the top five buyers of Russian oil or natural gas.

The bill grants the U.S. president authority to waive the sanctions with justification and certification to Congress.

The text was finalized just before Graham met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv last week.

The introduction of the bill now raises questions about whether Graham's sister and successor, Darline Graham Nordone, will continue his hawkish stance on Russia.
