Honduran Ex-President Returns After Trump Pardon

Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was serving a 45-year prison sentence in the United States for drug trafficking, returned to his home country on Sunday following a pardon from President Donald Trump last year.

The 57-year-old ex-president now faces separate fraud and money laundering charges in Honduras.

Hernandez's return marks a dramatic reversal for a leader once considered a key US ally in Central America before his conviction on charges of facilitating cocaine shipments to the United States.
