Europe's looming jet fuel crisis

Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have caused acute energy shortages, with jet fuel stocks reaching critical lows in several European countries.

Carriers such as Lufthansa and KLM have begun axing routes, while low-cost airlines like Wizz Air report shortages at major hubs in Italy.

EU officials are attempting to downplay the risks, but the IEA insists that a full recovery of energy output from the Middle East could take up to two years.

The crisis is also impacting Asia, where airlines are scrambling to secure alternative crude sources and protect their profit margins.
