Israel-Lebanon ceasefire extended

Israel-Lebanon ceasefire extended

A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended for another 45 days, yet violence continues to flare across the border.

Lebanon's health ministry reported that the death toll from Israeli strikes has surpassed 3,000 since March, with at least seven people killed in the latest attacks.

Israeli forces targeted an Islamic Jihad commander in Baalbek, while Hezbollah has vowed to continue its resistance against what it terms the occupation of southern Lebanon.

The extension aims to provide a window for more durable peace talks, but the humanitarian crisis in the region continues to deepen as displacement orders expand.
