Raiders Select Fernando Mendoza First Overall

Fernando Mendoza’s ascent from a two-star recruit to the first overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft was finalized Thursday night in Pittsburgh.

The Raiders chose the Indiana standout to solve their long-standing search for a franchise quarterback, following his historic national championship run.

Tom Brady, a minority owner of the team, personally welcomed Mendoza and offered mentorship to the incoming rookie class.
