Israel Jails Soldiers for Vandalism
A viral video showing an Israeli soldier using a sledgehammer to destroy a crucifix in southern Lebanon has led to immediate disciplinary action.
The incident, which took place in the village of Debel, sparked widespread international condemnation and a personal apology from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In addition to the two primary offenders, six other soldiers who witnessed the act without intervening are under investigation.
The military has since replaced the damaged icon as it attempts to manage the fallout during a fragile 10-day ceasefire with Hezbollah.
