Louisiana Approves New Congressional Map

The Louisiana Legislature has finalized a new congressional map that significantly alters the state's political landscape ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The approved plan eliminates one of the state's two majority-Black districts, a move that critics have labeled a 'racist act' and a blow to minority representation.

Republican lawmakers pushed the map through following a Supreme Court decision that invalidated a previous version as unconstitutional.

The new boundaries are expected to help the GOP secure an additional House seat, solidifying their control in the state.
