Super Typhoon Sinlaku Batters Saipan

The National Weather Service issued life-threatening flood warnings as the storm's inner eyewall came ashore on Tuesday.

Saipan's mayor reported that objects were flying 'left and right,' and several structures have suffered significant damage.

The storm is being described as the most powerful to hit the region in eight years, with sustained winds reaching 173 mph.

Blackouts have been reported across the islands, and residents have been urged to remain in shelters until the danger passes.
