Viktor Orban's historic defeat
Magyar's victory has been hailed by EU officials as a 'new push' for European integration and could unlock nearly €90 billion in funding for Ukraine that Orban had previously blocked.
The Kremlin has distanced itself from its former ally, claiming that President Putin was 'never friends' with Orban in an attempt to downplay the loss.
The election results have also exposed a rift within the U.S. Republican Party, with some members lamenting the fall of a prominent right-wing figure while others embrace the democratic shift.
Magyar has already announced plans to take state media's news coverage off the air, accusing it of spreading fear and lies during the campaign.
