UK to ban cigarette sales

The Tobacco and Vapes Bill also grants the government enhanced powers to regulate vaping products and their marketing to children.

Health officials have hailed the move as a major victory that will significantly reduce smoking-related deaths and protect the NHS. Critics, however, have raised concerns about personal freedom and the potential for a black market to emerge.

The bill is currently awaiting royal assent before becoming law.
