Artemis II breaks deep space records

The crew of the Artemis II mission achieved a monumental milestone on Monday, reaching a record distance of 252,756 miles from Earth.

During their journey behind the moon, the astronauts experienced a planned 40-minute communication blackout before re-emerging to share unprecedented views of the lunar far side.

The mission also featured an emotional tribute as the crew requested to name a lunar crater 'Carroll' in honor of Commander Reid Wiseman's late wife.

President Trump congratulated the crew via a long-distance call, hailing them as modern-day pioneers as they prepare for a Pacific Ocean splashdown this Friday.
